Baika Peru
On the Peruvian coast, on land that was previously desert, Hass avocado is produced when the southern hemisphere is out of season. Since 2021 we have been working here with partner growers, and from here we supply twenty markets on four continents.

The area
Agriculture in the desert
Our fruit comes from the Peruvian coast —Lambayeque, La Libertad, Áncash, Lima and Ica—, about 500 meters high and on sandy loam soils. It is a rainy area sporadic, high luminosity throughout the year and an even thermal gradient, between 17 and 30 degrees.
Where there was desert before, today there are orchards. The water comes from the subsoil and the large irrigation projects that bring it from the mountain range, and it is applied with technical irrigation, drop by drop.

The producers
All our Peruvian fruit comes from partner growers
In Peru we do not have our company-owned orchards, and that defines how we work: we accompany the producer throughout the chain, from orchard management to the arrival of his fruit to destination.
We offer technical assistance on the ground, financial support, support for get certified, access to our market network and long-term contracts. and something that a producer values as much as the above: we tell him which destinations he is traveling to its fruit.
Our producers →“Support, transparency and the peace of mind of knowing that your fruit will be marketed in the best markets.”
How it is processed
Our people are in every process
The Peruvian avocado is processed in third-party packing houses, always as close as possible to the orchards: in fresh fruit, every hour between harvesting and packing counts. We work with three packing plants in parallel, in the north, center and south of the coast.

Just because the plant is not ours does not mean that the process is not. Baika has a team own production and quality technician in each packing, present one hundred percent of the processes.
“Cannot process if we are not present.”
Harvest and dry matter
We harvest by measuring
The avocado does not ripen on the tree: what defines whether it will be creamy and flavorful is decides at harvest, and is measured with dry matter. From 2025 the technical standard Peru requires a minimum of 22% for export Hass avocado, one point per on the international Codex standard. We measure lot by lot and harvest by above the minimum requested by each destination market.

Traceability and technology
From box to batch
Every box that leaves Peru can be traced back to the lot of the producer who harvested it. and The packing houses we work with have an optical scanner, which detects defects that the human eye cannot see.
