Landscape of the Colombian coffee region where Baika produces Hass avocado

Operations Colombia

Baika Colombia

Since 2019 we have been producing Hass avocados in the coffee region, and since 2026 with our own plant. In Colombia we close the entire chain: from the field in Caldas and Quindío to the packing in Antioquia, and from there to the United States, Europe and Argentina.

The field

Three fields in the coffee-growing region

Our company-owned orchards are distributed between Caldas and Quindío, where the tropical altitude sets the pace of cultivation. Sandy loam soil, temperate climate and two seasons of flowering and harvest per year.

The tropical altitude allows two harvest windows: from September to March and from April to August. Thanks to them we export throughout the year.

How we grow

The craft before the technique

Caring for the garden begins with the soil and ends with the flower. Each practice seeks that the tree produces even fruit, season after season.

  • Soil management
  • Floral induction
  • Pollination
  • Use of drones
  • Clonal plant material

The technology

Each fruit, followed from end to end

The process line has optical selection that detects defects with light ultraviolet, beyond what the human eye can see. And all the fruit follows with a traceability system that accompanies it from harvest to arrival at Destination: Each box can be traced back to its origin.

The market

From Antioquia to the world

From Colombia we supply the United States, Europe and Argentina. The fruit comes out in green, in a cold chain, and each client activates the ripening at destination according to their own commercial program.

“After 7 years of operating in Colombia, having become one of the five main exporters in the country, we owed ourselves—and we owed our producers—an own operation that would reaffirm our image and the quality of our work.”
